Honestly the WB has given us some of the greatest series of all time, especially in the teen department, but when did it reach its true prime ?
I would say in 2000 :
By this time, The WB had :
The wonderful and incredible season 5 of Buffy on the air and the stellar season 2 of Angel. Add to that the absolute great season 3 of Charmed and the beginning of the ultimate comfort show Gilmore Girls with the season 4 of Dawson’s Creek. There’s also the season 2 of Roswell + the season 3 of Felicity and season 2 of Popular.
At this moment, The WB was really at it’s prime with :
Buffy The Vampire Slayer : Widely seen as one of the greatest television achievements and a turning point for television alongside with The Sopranos in 1999.
Angel : One of the few spin-off that some people view as superior to the original.
Charmed : Widely as an iconic symbol of the wicca culture and still the superior witch show.
Gilmore Girls : Also on multuple list of the greatest series of all time.
Dawson’s Creek : Often make the list on the top 3 of the best teen dramas of all time with Buffy.
Roswell : Was really popular back then and aged really well with a reboot.
Felicity : Also make the list of the greates series of all time and the best “school” shows.
Popular was also good but I have nothing great to say about it except that Entertainement Weekly pplaced the show at 21 in the list of the “26 best cult shows Ever”.
Of course The WB had also success with the hit teen drama “One Tree Hill” in 2003, the DC series “Smallville” and the Supernatural family drama “Supernatural” in 2005 but 2000 was really THE golden age.
