I’ve been rewatching breaking bad for the umpteenth time over the last few weeks and have just made it to the incredible season 5. I was trying to think why I find the fifth season so damn good and I think it finally twigged for me. It never shies away from the big moments in the show. Every big moment you know is going to come, is shown. Every big show down and big conversation is shown. It makes everything so damn satisfying.
Compared to some thing like Game of Thrones where you are waiting 8 seasons for everyone to find out who John Snow is, only for them to cut away when he tells his family.
I used to think of it as the Steven Moffat special. The man was allergic to giving his cliffhangers satisfying endings. How did Sherlock survive the fall? Were just gonna pick it up months later and not explain it properly. What blew up Matt Smiths TARDIS? Eh, we’ll start the next series with a completely different story and hope no one asks.
What was the worst example of a show where the writer just seemed to have no clue how to bring together their plot elements so just didn’t?
