This has been going through my head the last couple of days. It’s imagining NFL teams under CFL rules. Which teams would thrive the most with it and which teams wouldn’t fare as well with it.
There’s some people that say that the CFL is a superior game played by inferior athletes while the NFL is an inferior game played by superior athletes. Sounds like a pretty bold take.
Here’s a quick comparison of the different rules between both leagues.
| NFL Rules | CFL Rules |
|---|---|
| Field is 100 yards long & 53.3 yards wide | Field is 110 yards long & 65 yards wide |
| 22 players on the field at once | 24 players on the field at once |
| 4 downs per possession | 3 downs per possession |
| Fair catch rule | No fair catch rule |
| Very little presnap motion | Lots of presnap motion |
| No “Rouge” system | Rouge or single point is given when the team misses a FG or punts the ball and is not returned out of the endzone |
