I have a theory. All of this new normal, the great reset. I don't think the misery it's causing is a side effect. I think it's the end goal.
I was talking to a friend recently, and they pointed out how the transition from feudalism to communism in China was easy because there isn't a lot of difference for peasants who had been ruled for thousands of years by a string of cruel emperors when they're told they're now going to be ruled by communists.
But, imagine you're trying to take over a nation that's never been downtrodden like that. A nation that has never even had a king! They're used to freedom. They'll get mad if you try to take it away. How can you safely rule such people?
The answer is that you teach them to suffer. Teach them what it's like to have everything about their lives ruled by someone else. And so what if they hate it? Actually, it's better if they hate it, because it's very hard to make a deal for the soul of someone who is already happy with their life. But, they must be made to think that it's normal. Teach them that misery and discontent are the ground state of being. Make an entire nation of people who are constantly depressed.
When you've achieved this, and your puppet ministers are ready to hand the nation over to you officially, they'll be ready to accept without complaint, because by that time, they'll have acquired a taste for suffering.
