I was once upon a time an anti-gatekeeper, I was even willing to accept "libertarian socialists" and most "Anarcho-communists", Heck, reducing government by only 20% seemed like justification to call oneself libertarian in my mind.
Until I saw "libertarians" support the vaccine passports. Let me be clear :
If you believe in vaccine passports: You. Are. NOT. Libertarian
"but it's only private bussiness, they can refuse service right?"
-First of all, bullcrap, the government shut down nearly all small bussiness competitors by force, they will coerce businesses into doing it! It would be like a dictator telling the people "You can vote whatever policy you want, but if you don't vote my way, I can't promise you'll be safe in the future from other policies I may pass" and claiming it was democratic
-Second, even if it were a totally "private decision" the right to do something doesn't mean it should be encouraged or apologized for, If a religion told it's members to cut out their left eye to "combat lust" would you say "well, as long as it's voluntary" What if that religion said those who don't cut out their eye would have their whole families reject, exile and scold them, even if they were just children.
Consent is a Minimal standard, I say this as a full anarchist, private property whilst worthy to protect in most cases (99.9%), should have exceptions when it comes to clear violations of people's life, liberty and pursuit of happiness
"Well we should get the vaccine just for health reasons"
-First, the CDC and lord fauci (masks be upon him), both said we still need social distancing and masks after the vaccine, even they don't believe in it, at least not enough that they think it will solve the problem
-Second, think about it for 5 minutes, using the "it's for our safety" logic lead to the TSA, the NSA, the war on drugs, honestly, it would be easier to list things you Couldn't justify with this logic
-Third, People will be profiled and tracked, restricting their freedoms and liberties, this is what vaccine passports will do, even if you wanted the vaccine, depriving people of their liberties is coercion, end of discussion. Just as you can not smoke weed whilst wanting it legalized you can take the vaccine without coercing others, if they work so darn well, then what are you worried about? A vaccinated person shouldn't be at risk even when traveling with unvaccinated people unless you for some reason don't trust the vaccines...
