Throughout history, religious dogma has been forced on populaces and has been used as a method of authoritarian control over people's lives. I don't think I need to go into things like the prohibition era and the war on drugs, the damage they did to people, and how they were often fueled by the religious fervor of their supporters.

Beginning around the late part of the 20th century however, I believe their power has been steadily weakening. Part of this has been because of greater respect for individual freedom, and the fostering of negative perceptions of those religious activists who would seek to control others. This was done on a fairly simple formula: a religious activist would denounce something as immoral and in need of stopping, then the argument would be made that people should be allowed to be free to do what they want and the activist would be framed as an authoritarian "morality police" for trying to interfere. We would then extend that perception to an ever growing list of things they would perceive as immoral such as pre-marital sex, porn, drug use, and openly exhibiting LGBT activities. The more we pushed the limits of immorality, the more we could call "tyrant" every time they cried.

I believe this tactic has worked and I don't worry about the religious right as much as I did. Nowadays however, a new religion has emerged, the "woke" left. Though secular in it's foundation, it is as religious as any church. They are also as zealous to punish their perceived "immorality" and control society in the same way the religious right did. In this, they are a threat to freedom lovers anywhere.

I don't see though why the same tactic that weakened the religious right can't be used against them. We should actively champion what they call immoral, and call them out as authoritarian tyrants every time they cry out. Although, what immorality we should promote will need to be different this time; some things like pride parties aren't going to work. But the woke have no end to the things that offend them and their gods "racism" and "sexism". Things like antebellum parties, insensitive stand-up comedy, porn (many of the woke cry objectification and dehumanization of women just like the religious right), excessive displays of patriotism, things considered cultural appropriation, blackface, promoting BDSM relationships (many don't like the slave/master dynamic), using vulgar speech (don't acknowledge pronouns, never add an "x" to latino, etc.), play country music, or even defending harmless traditional values if they go after them are all ideas of things to do.

The woke left has been ascendant for a while, but if we start treating them like the authoritarian morality police like we do the religious right, perhaps we can start taking them down notch by notch and have some fun in the process (I love wearing a sombrero at Cinco de Mayo parties. Let the accusations of "cultural appropriation" flow in; I just call it my protest against "cultural segregation").
