I just started this show last week and watched season 1 very quickly… it was amazing (to me at least). I know it was controversial and people didn’t like how much of a slow burn it was. The mysterious brooding western hinted PERFECTLY at concepts that tickled your brain a little without showing too much. I don’t say this lightly but it was the first time since Season 1 of True Detective since I felt the vibes that show had.

Season 2… is showing too much. I don’t think it’s bad at all. But the entire feeling of this strange mystery is just not there anymore:(. And the cinematography that was truly mind blowing in the first season, my god… I had to go back and rewatch certain episodes because of how incredible the lighting and amazing the shot design was. None of that is here anymore and we’re left with what feels like regular western mixed with a time travel drama where all the relationships are far too conveniently connected across time and I don’t know… it just doesn’t feel nearly as authentic.
