If you’ve ever been inspired to read the source material after seeing a TV show…
What did you think of it?
Was the book what you expected? Was that a good or a bad thing?
Did it change your feelings about the TV show?
A few personal examples:
- Slow Horses: they’re well-written, but the books lack a certain humour that the show has and without that, I found the tone a bit too bleak for my tastes.
- Cadfael and Nero Wolfe: the books were just what I expected and that was great.
- The Magicians: I had a hard time with the close focus on Quentin. I’m sure he’s realistically written, but I don’t want to spend that much time with a character like that.
- A Spy Among Friends: I really enjoyed a more thorough historical account of the spies in question.
