No. It’s terrible in theory too.

This statement is something I always hear from people who claim to be anti-communist. But by this logic, if a perfect communist society were ever possible, they’d embrace the revolution.

The fact is, communism is not some utopian philosophy that’s just been poorly implemented. The very ideals that it strives for - complete state control of the economy, serving the good of the collective at the expense of the individual, and rejecting the idea that hard work should be rewarded - are nightmarish even on paper.

We shouldn’t get bogged down debating whether ‘true communism’ has ever been tried, or if it ever will. We should be debating whether we would want to implement it even if we could, and for anyone who has even a crumb of respect for their own personal liberty, the answer should be a resounding no.
