My mom has been in town the past few weeks, and she of course watches all of these network primetime dramas: all the Chicago shows, 911, Blue Bloods, Tracker, Grey’s Anatomy, Station 19, etc etc etc. I don’t normally watch all these types of shows, but I have the past few weeks.
I’ve noticed they all end the same, no matter the show, no matter the network. They all have this annoying cliche manipulative music segment at the end of each episode. All of these different shows on all of these different networks all use the same trick. Emo Pop music comes on in the last five min or so to just tug at your heartstrings and make you “feel something” as the episode’s climax winds down and cuts to credits.
It drives me nuts. It feels so cliche and unoriginal, like they’re all just churning these shows out through a template. Am I alone? What do you think of it?
