Having a hard time figuring out how to articulate this, so for some context as to what motivated this post:

Am currently spending my morning pregaming for a UFL filled Saturday by rewatching SB52(Eagles-Pats), and man, the Philly Special when considering the moment and the game script leading up to it just felt like such a “fuck you” moment from the Eagles.

It was all set up PERFECTLY. McDaniels calls the reverse on 3rd down and sends Brady on a wheel route, gets him wide open with room to run, and well… we’ve all seen the drop. The ball just bounces right off Brady’s fingertips. Then, with 40ish seconds left in the half, Phillys facing 4th and goal from inside the 5. Pederson decides to let em hang by making probably one of the ballsiest, most brilliantly timed play calls I’ve ever seen, sending Foles out to the flat for a wide open touchdown.

Everything about it was just such a gotcha. It’s like Doug saw the Pats try their version of it and said “oh you wanna play that game? Watch this. THIS is how it’s done,” and flexed his muscles. And something about the way Foles secured the catch while backpedaling, maybe it’s just me, but it just seemed like he secured the ball so emphatically(but still so smoothly too), as if he was giving Brady an crash course on how to catch a football. It was just poetic. The camera cuts to Fatty P and he just gives this little defeated smirk as if to say “alright, ya got me.” Even more fitting that it came in this kind of situation, from an underdog team going against a dynasty on the biggest stage. The entire play call felt so emblematic of the aggressive and fearless mindset Philly came into this game with. It just felt like a huge middle finger to the whole patriots sideline.

What are some of your favorite moments like this in NFL history? Doesn’t have to be on the field, necessarily, and if you want to bend the literary nature of the question a bit for the sake of discussion, go for it.
