A buddy recommended this to me and so I bought season 1 for $9 on itunes b/c i couldn’t find it streaming on hulu/disney/netflix/prime. It started off pretty funny with some really good crude humor and fun but fairly straightforward references to Terminator. Josh Hutcherson really plays the clueless, semi well-intentioned lead really well, but the highlights are definitely Eliza Coupe as Tiger and the super scene stealer Derek Wilson as Wolf. They take the script and really do some magic with it. It’s also fun to see Haley Joel Osment and Keith David as scientists and Ed Begley jr is great. Also, surprised to see Britt Lower (from Severance) appear for a short arc; she looks and acts amazing.
So the plot is basically resistance fighters from the future come to 2017 b/c Josh Hutcherson beat a computer game which was really a test to find the hero to be the resistance leader (The Last Starfighter is directly referenced). So they go thru various (mis) adventures to try to fix the future.
The latest episode I’m on is Episode 7 and it turns out that James Cameron is crucial to the future and so they have to break into his home. And of course, ridiculousness ensues. It is so good and so hilarious. It’s amazing in retrospect, looking back at 2010 from now; I can’t imagine what it may have been like at the time.
I guess this about halfway thru the first season and so i hope this energy continues. And not sure if it keeps up over the 3 season run, but it will be interesting to find out.
