What is the difference between a good acting performance and a bad one in your view?

I’m finally getting around to The White Lotus and I don’t really know how to think about Sydney Sweeney’s performance in the show. She’s clearly playing a disaffected teenager or young person. Which naturally leads to her being very emotionless and not reacting to things. Yet I’m not sure how it differs from a bad acting performance.

Similarly, I quite like Alexandra Daddario’s performance in the show. I’ve seen her in other shows and it’s very good. But I wasn’t a fan of Mayfair Witches. I don’t know if that was her acting or bad writing. Maybe a combination of both.

So what is your view of a good acting performance versus a bad performance?
