The seven locations abroad that have historically experienced monkeypox outbreaks make up less than one percent of all cases presently. Altogether, they have less than 400 cases. The Democratic Republic of the Congo has 163 cases, Nigeria has 157, Ghana has 47, the Central African Republic has 8, Cameroon has 7, the Republic of the Congo has 3, and Liberia has 2. Three of these locations — Nigeria, Central African Republic, and Ghana — account for 7 of the 12 deaths.
