In my society -- says the libertarian -- people get hurt. People are malnourished. People get sick and they die.
But see! -- says the statist -- in my society, that doesn't happen. Everyone is safe! No one starves! No one gets sick or lacks healthcare! The only acceptable goal for human suffering is zero. WE HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE IT HAPPEN! All it takes is our will to make the world as we want it.
No -- says the libertarian -- my answers are better.
You -- says the statist -- are cruel. Your "answers" are cruel. They all leave holes. You fail to prevent starvation, care for the poor, or avert the oppression of peoples. What of the child who is neglected and abused by his parents? What of the victim of racism unable to find work? What of the disabled adult who can never provide for himself? What of the innocent schoolgirl, shot by an deranged assailant? What of the feeble grandmother who falls prey to the pandemic? What of the working class father whose family barely survives, crushed into the ground by the greed of industrialists? Do you deny the plight of these people?! GUARANTEE THAT YOU WILL PREVENT THEIR SUFFERING!
I'm sorry -- says the libertarian -- I cannot.

And thus, in a battle of visions, in the contest for the hearts and minds of humanity, the grim heartless libertarian loses to the compassionate utopian statist.
