For context, I do love various espionage style shows like MI5/Spooks or Rubicon but when I first watched The Bureau, it felt like something I had not ever seen before. In part, it was from the French perspective and dealing with geopolitical elements that were different enough to be fresh but familiar enough to be accessible.
And I love seeing professionals be professional and for a show to present things that dont’ feel invented. So watching The Wire is amazing b/c it feels like you are put right there in the police dept or the drug corner and there’s an authenticity there. I get that same feeling from The Bureau, like I’ve been dropped right into a govt agency and seeing how a lot of things work, particularly the spycraft stuff.
S1 and S2 were amazing and might be shows I think of as “best ever” for that genre.
I don’t see it discussed or even mentioned much. Heck i see Rubicon mentioned more than it is! That may be because of difficulty in streaming it. I bought it on iTunes so I could watch it, but I’m not sure if it’s available for free on a streaming platform.
