Quick reminder that “buying” isn’t actually buying when they only let you watch it on a specific platform.
If they don’t give you the source file, and you can only play it on their platform, as long as you have a subscription and the platform still has the license, the “buy” option is more like renting. You don’t “own” anything.
There are countless of examples of platforms that lost licenses to shows and movies, and everyone who “bought” them, lost access.
Don’t participate in this sham. If they have a “buy” option, they need to give you the source file and let you play it whenever, wherever. Just like it used to be when you bought a DVD (or tapes before that).
Don’t let them change the definition of “ownership”. Using the terms “buy” or “purchase”, when it’s no such thing is leading us down a slippery slope. Hopefully congress will eventually enact laws that will codify the terms “buy” and “purchase”, and force these companies to use accurate terminology.
