I've had some recent thoughts about why they are trying to get people to eat bugs. It's very clear that they are trying to control the nitrogen cycle as much as the carbon cycle. If you don't know the all important element that makes fertilizer fertilizer and protein protein is nitrogen. It's the real economic bottle neck to feeding people. Calories are cheap. You are willing to pay $20 for a package of steaks and only $1 for a loaf of bread because of that nitrogen atom.
When you restrict nitrogen (fertilizer) you create a new bottle neck to the human population. In steps bugs as a false solution. They never mind introducing solutions that will not work, but the NPC will buy it. Create problem, introduce solution that does nothing, profit. While bugs will be sold as the new nitrogen pathway it doesn't really solve a problem. Where do bugs get nitrogen from? From eating plants. The same as cows. And their anti-fertilizer campaign created a shortage of nitrogen for plants. Bugs are not a new source of inbound nitrogen.
But what advantage to bugs have over cows, or just going purely vegan? They clearly want a lot of dead people. They are banking on their ability to do that so there being a lot of dead people to them is a given. Dead people have a lot of nitrogen. How can you launder that nitrogen back into the system now that nitrogen is very valuable since you created an artificial shortage of it? Bodies don't actually make good fertilizer. The rot actually messes up soil for a good while. It's hard for the land to digest a body. But bugs have no problem.
Don't eat the bugs.

Sorry for the creepy thoughts. It's something I realized one day as I was driving to work. Even if it only has a 5% chance of the thought becoming a reality for that reason alone I'm not eating the bugs.

Well, they haven't hid that fact...
