Even among some constitutionalist libertarians I encounter quite a lot of people who believe that universal background checks are common sense and protect people without infringing upon the right to bear arms
What they don’t realize it that such a program would require a government registry program, meaning every gun and every sale will be recorded.
This without a doubt will be used by the government to defend otherwise unconstitutional gun confiscation through loopholes of minor mental illnesses, non violent crime, and past economic instability.
At all costs we need to not fall for this trap and avoid it at all costs
