Edit: as other redditors have mentioned, another way to look at the question is:
The 2023 Michigan Wolverines travel back in time and play each Superbowl winning team using that year’s NFL rules and equipment. They fully rest and recover after every game. Which Superbowl winning team is the first to consistently defeat them?
I assume Michigan blows out the original Packers SB team.
I would guess the 85 Bears would be past the break even point, so it would be sometime between those 20 years.
- EARLIER rules and equipment
- all the players and coaches from Michigan retain their football knowledge, playbook, etc.
- assume Michigan knows the old rules perfectly but has no practice with them, and they are comfortable with the equipment as default
I started this thread on NFLnoobs but oops wrong subreddit but people really liked it.
Seems like 3 major camps
- 1989 49ers
- 1975 Steelers
- 1966 Packers
