Ok, so I can see that this is the opposite of increasing hiring. Govt is slashing permanent army jobs
They want 50k kids annually to join for 4 years, pick 25% for 15 years of service. This reduces median age of armed forces to 26 from 32, and slashes pension burden, which they will invest in modernisation.
Unemployed kids can get a decent salary - 450$ a month, free rent, food, cheaper goods, 60k USD life insurance, 15k USD lumpsum if they join a savings program where they will pay 43% of their monthly salary, and preferential hiring for jobs and university placement.
Monthly median income in India is ~400 USD, so they are getting paid higher right off the bat, without any university degree.
Its great for the country's budget and national security. Just bad for the parasites who want to leech on Big govt for their whole lives. Hence the protests:

.....why ?
I am kind of really confused. The Indian army has no shortage of applicants. They reject a lot of them.
The Army is more like a state controlled employment scheme. You already get a huge amount of benefits, so a lot of people try to apply for it. There was no need for this additional scheme to get more volunteers. They just had to raise their quota.
More fucking bloat from the world's bloatiest and inefficient govt
