For the longest time, the anti-gunners have been making progress by changing the language surrounding guns in order to sway low-information voters. It's a cunning tactic. As people who support the 2nd amendment, we need to use this tactic as well.
Obviously, as one learns more about guns and the laws/history surrounding them they become more and more pro-gun. However, there are many voters who are either too busy or too lazy (probably the latter) to research any issues they vote on. They vote based on their emotions and cause disastrous effects via their politicians actions. These people really suck but unfortunately they get a vote just like us.
Changing the language is necessary in order to sway these low-info voter's emotions. So, how can we change the language for the better?
First, frame everything as a freedom issue, because that is what it is. "So you think that I don't deserve the Freedom to protect myself and my family? You don't think we have a collective freedom to overthrow a tyrannical government? Why does the government get to decide any of this? What kind of American are you?" etc. etc.
Second, remove the phrase "gun control" from you vocabulary. Replace it with "Gun Prohibition." This will help you to more productively convey the similarities between alcohol prohibition and gun prohibition. This will help us to effectively hammer home the idea that banning anything like guns, alcohol, and drugs, doesn't work. Likely, if you frame the argument as them being pro gun "prohibition," they will feel pretty silly seeing as everybody clowns on the alcohol prohibitionists of a century ago.
If we make a concerted effort to spread these new terms among the politics surrounding guns, we will change hearts and open eyes to the reality of our second amendment right.
