Right - this was my first sign to just completely abandon it.
Now we are doubly proven right.
I am using the just general Brave search that they are trying to set up. I sometimes even use Yandex. I sometimes also use the JoshWho search. But I do feel a little homeless right now.
Swiss Cows is also not bad - even though I think it uses a generic search engine that you see at other places like Ecosia.

I started using Yandex a few years back. It skews the results the opposite way of U.S. media--consider this a pro or a con as you will. At this point I'd rather have my data in the hands of the Russian state than the big U.S. tech companies.
There's one out of the U.K. called "mojeek" that is as slimmed down and simple as you can get. I think their motto is "Just Search." It's clunky and you have to use real keyword search skills to find the info you're looking for, but security trades off with convenience after all. I use it for most things.
