So basically, when I learned about bitcoin, my libertarian self fall in love with it. Currency which potentially gives a buyer semi-anonymity, ignores state borders and avoids taxes and banks? No need for third parties as everything is based on trustless algorithm making sure there's limited supply of coins? It sounds perfect. The future of money, the digital gold, etc.
But I started to have some serious doubts when looking at bitcoin. It all started with Peter Schiff - don't get me wrong, even though he's a statist, I respect him for his understanding of economics. If you didn't know, he's an opposite of a bitcoin enthusiast. He have some really strong arguments, why bitcoin (in his opinion) will eventually go to zero. Another thing he recently said and made me question bitcoin more was pointing out that our "elites" are heavily promoting bitcoin on the media - why would they do it, if it would weaken state power? Maybe bitcoin is a false flag to turn away our attention from gold and silver?
So for a couple of weeks my position on bitcoin is swinging back and forth. I can't make my mind. Maybe you guys can help me finally pick one side?
