Let’s say the 3-3-2-2-1 model gets approved with SEC/B1G getting the automatic two byes for Conference Champs. What happens to the rankings and polls? Wouldn’t this model make them obsolete and irrelevant?
What happens in a scenario where a school from the ACC or the Big12 is ranked number 1 at the end of the season? Like if Arizona goes undefeated, and the top SEC and B1G teams all have multiple losses by the end of the year. Arizona is ranked #1 but they wouldn’t qualify for the bye because they are in the Big12?
Or like last year. Say Iowa pulls the upset in the CCG. They would have been ranked way lower than the ACC and Big12 champs. They would catapult all the way to number 1 or 2 and get a bye while an FSU gets punished with another game?
Rankings and polls would need to have the 1 and 2 spots dedicated only for SEC and B1G, regardless of record/resume. Unless they are deemed completely irrelevant.
