As has been reported previously, the UNC BOG is currently attempting to tie NC State to UNC in any potential realignment scenario, so if UNC wants to go to the SEC or Big Ten then they cannot do so without NC State being accepted as well.
If this were the case, would the B1G and/or the SEC be willing to accept NC State as a member just to get UNC?
To take it one step further, if UNC wants their historic rival Virginia to come too, would the B1G/SEC take both of them just to get UNC?
And for one last step, if UNC said “we’re a package deal with Duke, Virginia, and NC State. All of us or none of us” would either conference be willing to take the quartet?
How much power would UNC wield here?
