In a Supreme Court case on the issue, Matal v. Tam (2017), the justices unanimously reaffirmed that there is effectively no "hate speech" exception to the free speech rights protected by the First Amendment and that the U.S. government may not discriminate against speech on the basis of the speaker's viewpoint.
Just kinda tired of hearing that argument over the internet the past couple days.
Hate speech is just speech someone finds offensive. Offensive speech is still free speech.

There'll always be extreme speech because it's funny and shocking, and because people are flawed.
Fighting against it is absurd, especially when nobody is hurt by it.
Its especially annoying when someone pretends to be offended on someone else's behalf.
People need to be merciful to others which means forgiving their silly speech and... why not embrace the opportunity to laugh?
There's no such thing as "hate speech". Words can't "hate" you. Just like there's no "psychological violence" because words can't "hurt" (be violent) you. Those are liberal words that are used only to censor opinions they don't like.
