Hadn’t seen anything posted about this yet, but figured it might be of interest to r/nfl in this slow off-season. Former Broncos & Colts QB Chad Kelly, now the starting QB for the Toronto Argonauts and reigning CFL Most Outstanding Player, has been accused of, and sued for, alleged sexual harassment by a former member of the team’s strength & conditioning team.

(Rather than say alleged in every sentence, let me preface this by saying all of the following is only alleged and has not been proven in court): The victim filed a civil suit in Ontario just this past Wednesday, 21 February 2024, against both Kelly and the Argonauts. Kelly supposedly made repeated unwanted sexual comments towards the woman in the workplace. After the woman made clear she was not interested and that his comments were inappropriate, Kelly’s conduct towards her became even worse, and his comments took on an intimidating / threatening tone.

The Argonauts have also been named in the suit as co-defendants, for their failure to act after the woman reported Kelly’s comments and behaviour to the team. They told her, in effect, to ignore it and not rock the boat (Kelly is the reigning league MOP/MVP), and after 6 years with the team the woman’s contract was unexpectedly not renewed last month, 29 January 2024.

Below is a link to a more complete summary of the story from Canadian sports news outlet TSN and l believe the complete court filing is available online for anyone who wants to search it out and read the in-depth allegations.

Edit: fixed link. BTW, Rick Westhead (the TSN reporter) is the guy who broke the stories of the massive recent ice hockey scandals.
