As i was reading an article about the courts now neutering NCAA’s last pretensions how NIL does not affect where top players go to school, i started thinking what kind of changes would make fans to go “i’m out”?
I came up with a few “improvements”:
- Players are freed from “playing school” for good. They are no longer required to be students in the school associated with their team
- Teams start to move their games en masse to “optimal” locations. Home games are now played in the neighbouring state where the pro arena with the best financial package was available. Training facilities are also setup near the arena, some 500 miles from campus.
- Season limits for players get removed, as name recognition is a good thing for marketing
- Why stop players from coming back if that NFL thing did not pan out?
What would it take for you to lose interest, or can you even imagine such a thing?
Disclaimer: i’m a euro with no real bond to CFB besides originally enjoying NFL and then getting a free channel in my cable package once upon a time which aired CFB. Free football, on saturday nights? I was sold. To explain my flair, that magical year was 2009, and the channel played some Colt McCoy insert A LOT between the games.
