New missile technology from the past 2 decades is showing its results. Naval warfare was dominated by Carrier strike groups since WWII... not anymore.
Ship losses since WWII all due to air strikes. This is the first loss from a cruise missile. End of Carrier era. China-Taiwan war will go similarly

Yeah, but its the signal of the end to Gunboat (or Carrier) diplomacy. Look at this map - the DF-21 boundary is the range that China can take out US carriers from land - 900 miles+. US's 14 Carrier strike groups are obsolete because of this. They won't be able to go anywhere near China if they invade Taiwan.
