Original Title: Is 2006-2015 is arguably the most competitive decade of football in NFL History, with 9 different Super Bowl winners? No other 10-year span had more than 7 different winners, with 86-95 only featuring 4 different winners.
Sean Peyton was interviewed this week and essentially said that the free agency era has destroyed or diminished the ability of teams to just “build on the year before.” I’d argue it’s made the league extremely competitive and made dynasties or crazy runs even more impressive than it ever was before. Keeping a team together is much harder now than it was before, and you can contend that anyone winning multiple rings in the FA era is much more impressive than winning in the pre-FA era. Not to diminish the accomplishments of old school winners, but team building and continuity is just different now.
