  it reminds me of bike helmets

  they can protect you in a small percent of crashes

  when they are mandated, people just ride bikes less, which leads to more disease as people exercise less

  and you can get as much head injury driving a car or walking near cars but no one mandates helmets for cars or pedestrians

  Masks remind me of the same kind of harm done with supposed "good intentions"

  maybe they protect a bit but what are all the problems they have caused?

    In the case of skateboarding I'm generally safer without a helmet. At least when traveling long distance. I need the extra flexibility and sight. Maybe dropping in on a big half pipe for the first time it's a good idea to wear one.

      Good point. I think there may be laws in some places. But nobody will actually enforce
