What’s amazing to me about college football is that you essentially have to be the GM and coach. For example, here’s a leaked video of Saban recruiting a player, presumably while he’s doing all the things that coaches must do. So in college, you need to be good-to-great in all three things: recruiting salesman, pregame, and in-game adjustments.
In the NFL, it’s usually one or the other. Les Snead is bringing in players and McVay just has to worry about the on-field stuff. Sometimes guys are both coach and GM , but even they struggle (Belicheck recently with NE, BOB with Houston).
So who would be higher up in the coaching ranks if they only had to worry about the X and Os part, like in the NFL?
