In our case , BC Canada, our health authority is a network across the lower mainland. If I get a scan in one city my doctor can pull it up in another, so both ends of that are connecting to the internet

The problem is, the growth of hospital systems has been organic and what it needs is to be ripped out and replaced with something designed for modern times.

Also hospitals in general are loath to replace any digital system that still works. That’s time that their already overworked personnel have to dedicate to learning new systems, potential new bugs and quirks that might have actual severe consequences for patients, etc.
