I probably trust them a little more than Google/Facebook, but the idea of sending anyone my ID is terrifying to me. I think they might be angling towards using MyGovID (which theyâve now renamed âMyIDâ), where you send them a copy of every form of ID you have, then theyâll handle the verification through some kind of API. But unless I know for certain the only thing returned to whoeverâs asking is âyes, this person is over the age of 16â, Iâm not going to be using it. Iâll just use a VPN on everything
Nath/Lodion donât need to know my name, and the government donât need to know my username

Yeah, Iâm cautiously watching too.
That reminds me. There was something about PayPal telling merchants your name and such, I have to go double check and deal with that too if so.
Data brokering has gone wild, everything is now blatantly galloping to squeeze as much as it can

Yeah. Iâve donated before, and I didnât realise PayPal would publish my name, do I think Lodion probably does have my name in an email somewhere. But I donât think itâs directly tied to the username I gave Kofi, so heâd need to go dig through it, then cross reference the dates/times/amounts to figure it out. Plus, it also exposed his name, so that makes me a little less worried about it

Itâs a massive barrier to me donating to stuff. I could spare a few dollars but am wary of risking my financial security or leaking my details.

FWIW, I have paid/donated to things with pseudonyms before, and Iâve never had my bank block them before. Youâre not meant to, and if your bank isnât shit like mine, they should block it (especially if a credit card). Another option is using one of those visa gift card doo-dads, but idk if they work with PayPal
