Honestly, the same is true for almost every country. The US is demonized elsewhere in the world, but people making trips like this across the US will just see people going about their lives, and a beautiful country. The real problems aren’t with the people though, it’s with the actions of the government.

Most people in China have mundane lives and don’t think about the oppression they live under, because it’s not usually impacting what they need to do in a daily basis. Same with Russia, Iran, Turkey…etc.
