I've thought about it, I think link aggregators like wolfballs work better than dissenter. Like you can search the link in the top serach. We probably should make a browser addon to see if anyone has posted the link or not. Just allow installing from zip file or something.

Wolfballs has a central use case with content posting, but it could also add feeds with discussions from Dissenter like sources or even Matrix
Yes, you are right, Dissenter like overlays should be handled p2p or federated at least. How does LBRY store comments and likes ? On the blockchain maybe ? If so, then that could be expanded for general use. The payment in tokens is a necessary evil for others to share and seed the network. Its worked fine for me so far, uploading is only a bit slower, and text comments are very lightweight anyway. The token usage for storing comments + likes should be waaaaaay lower than video content.
A plugin for such a LBRY commenter for Brave would mean a huge user base. Brave already has a lot of p2p out of the box, so I am sure they wouldn't mind such an addition.

You may not know my opinion on platforms like LBRY but they are not decentralized. Wolfballs is more decentralized than LBRY. Blockchains in every incarnation I have seen are a poor choice for social media if your goal is decentralization.
Whether your platform is based on a node in a blockchain or a node in a federated chain it's decentralization is directly correlated with how many people are willing to run a node. In the case of wolfballs, our data exist on several nodes. I can see the logs of outgoing servers. We send all these post to dozens of other platforms and instances which maintain their own copies of the data that I don't have power to alter. In the case of LBRY I only know of one node and two ways to access it and that is their website and app. Nobody actually runs their app btw everyone uses the website. If they want to censor something said you can't find that content else where.
You can see this demonstrated by going to the front page and comment on every video that the ceo is some big penis or similar insult and watch your account be banned.
Dissenter basically just created a post for a url. And it was slow and never really worked well. We could have a addon that showed conversations going on here or other instances for a given url and that would do the same thing.

You and I discussed Oddyssee's Web/Desktop App before. Censorship exists in Web app, Desktop has porn etc. Haven't tried other clients for LBRY
Thanks, did not know it was so simple :)
You are 100% right. p2p systems need 'seedboxes'. 'Sharers' reduce cost of downloads but no persistence like Federated nodes. An open source Federation plugin would lead to many amazing implementations: Discord like/Reddit like/Disssenter like.... I did not realize the amazing potential of Fediverse :)
