You don't want to know. Its really disgusting behaviour by extremists in some regions.

Religion isn't the cause - merely the excuse. Its bullshit between different local groups that erupts during major celebrations. Most parts of the country, different religions have coexisted peacefully.

Every country has shitholes and assholes, right ? You don't think the whole US is as bad as New York city for example. Same here. Assholes creating trouble get into the news. Most of the country doesn't care as much about religious differences.

Groups are in competition for the same resrouces -- sometimes, groups happen to identify by religion, and due to all the threats around them, they fight to protect their family and community.

  I mean, those things, yes. My grandpa witnessed great grandpa getting killed over inheriting farm land... fucking medieval. But that was a crime with a motive.
  
  These animals kill for either psychopathy or extreme ideology. Don't know which is worse. I saw neighbourhood thugs beat up and steal from teenagers doing deliveries for mom and pop stores... met a few religious nuts too.

    Indians can be wonderful, they can also be manipulative/greedy/scummy. Same as everyone else really :)
    
    As long as you know what can go wrong and how to deal with them, its pretty fun, lots of different kinds of nature and ancient ruins to explore :)
