federation works the same way if more people run instances. It's no different than block-chain solutions in that regard. Actually better because unlike blockchains it ends up actually being decentralized. To prove my point, go over to odyssee which is the only large scale block chain social media platform and start talking shit about the ceo on all the front page videos. You will be banned quick. And because no one else actually runs their block chain or their app no one will be able to see your content. A instance works just like a node in a block chain. Federation is a much better solutions because people actually run their own instances.
Also at no point in the history of the internet would seer not get banned on almost any forum for calling the children of a admin mud bloods, nigger faggot kikes ect ect ect. The dude was talking shit across the whole site. You are looking back at the internet with nostalgia and maybe not realism. You can take a look at old long running forums and see people getting banned. Like kodi forums which have been up since like 2006 ish Of course i'm gonna get pissed off and just say fuck it. Thats what temp bans are for imo. If a mod or admin gets over emotional they can just use temp bans.
Trolling and talking shit is an important and fun experience so I want that behavior here and i'm not apologizing i'm listening to the community and taking action based on what they want.

I think it's cope and dodge.
SOMEONE is going to own the hardware or have jurisdiction over it.
We either have a culture of total free speech or we end up in the shitter.

to me it's as with politics, I am either ok with anarchy or monarchy, so to speak, as Tolkien expressed
so either I run or join a Christian forum that bans advocacy of degeneracy, so the mods are somewhat responsible for what is allowed to be posted, or we tolerate legal degeneracy and morally consider the burden for posting to be on the poster, which is like a kind of anarchy.
I also like the concept of "freer speech" rather than free speech. Which is to say on here we have "freer" speech that reddit, like can talk about covid issues. even if there are other restrictions on speech, it is still more free.
