That’s great that he clarified his personal feelings… After the blowback from signing the open letter to Biden in support of Israel. I’m also a “self loving Jew who supports a full ceasefire” and it hasn’t been difficult at all not to make any public actions contrary to that belief.

Or maybe he realized he was wrong and decided to do the right thing. The dude went to a birthright trip in his 20s; it makes sense he would have started out in support of Israel.

Maybe. More likely he realized the backlash from his fans was affecting his wallet and career. The conflict isn’t new and Andre isn’t dumb. he was raised in the faith as was I, except he’s a few years older. My family and I have been thrown out of multiple Temples for the mere suggestion that Palestinian lives matter even remotely. I was offered birthright as well, as all white passing and rich Jews are, and turned it down. It’s that easy. What I will never understand is why people rush to defend the rich and powerful. Do you really think he needs, wants, or cares about your help?

I’m interested in figuring out why he would switch positions to such a large degree. If it were truly to prevent backlash, he would have said something sooner and appear neutral.
I’m defending him because I enjoy the art he makes and think he’s as capable as you or I of self improvement, and because I want to encourage others to do the same.
