essentially looks like it was a proxy indirect cold war and now putin has responded by making it a hot war of direct conflict
kind of like someone insulting a person so they punch them in the face. did they need to insult the person? did the other person need to punch them in the face? neither side is blameless

yes, also as I posted over in c/libertarian some people consider sanctions to be pretty violent like a "punch in the face"
the commies would reeeeee endlessly about a supposed white person cutting off / discriminating against a black person from services, leading to their death (like if there was a "racist" hospital), but they apparently don't really care about doing the same thing to Russians or Iraqis etc. with sanctions
