I read a while ago of two strategies to combat this:
- Swap the justices to other life-long positions in different federal courts, and swap in other life-long federal judges
- Grow the Supreme Court
If I recall correctly, these were explained as plans that the President has the power to do without needing legislative approval.
I never looked into whether these claims were accurate.

#2 can actually work, but it requires the Senate to go along with it. There hasn’t been a majority in favor of it to date.
