Comment on Im root'n for Putin
iamtanmay@wolfballs.com 2 years agoYes, I agree with you. But, the common people don't understand how complicated society and government is. They don't understand that elected leaders are not God and cannot fix most problems. At the end of the day, the common man has to pick up the tools and do the job of fixing his neighbourhood himself. Reliance on Big Daddy govt as a miracle savior is how we got to this place.
Common people are not stupid. Centralized govt is flawed. Few places have govt that is local, like Switzerland where everything is voted on by the people.

I agree heartily. It's why they always screw up in elections, looking for silver bullets to multi-layered problems.
I would never pick Switzerland as an ideal however.

Life is full of compromise. At least the Swiss vote on everything. That means taking responsibility for your decision, not passing the buck to some elected snake oil salesman. I am not in alignment with lefty Swiss politics, but I can make a tradeoff for this kind of govt.

I disagree. Voting just means passing the buck to the electorate. No one is responsible.

Electorate is responsible. Everyone is. Country votes for war, all are to blame, whether you voted yes or no. That's the price of living in a tribe. To avoid bad decisions, improve your communication skills and convince your fellow countrymen. That's also your responsibility.
This system is far better than putting your faith in a handful of power hungry snake oil salesmen.
