Yeah I get this too if my beard grows for more than a couple days. Also the back of my scalp if my hair gets really long.
I’ve had good luck controlling it on my scalp with this stuff:

No flare ups in a long time since I started using it
Might give it a try i use one of Heads and Shoulders clinical shampoo with some success but could be way better
