Human life is to be protected, rescued etc. in all cases.

We need to stay absolutely clear with that, because everything else creates terrible moral problems

I see no issue with assisted suicide if the person is or was determined to be of sound mind when they made that choice. In fact I believe it is more morally questionable to deny it.
