@Miss604 Meta said they’re taking a phased approach to the Fediverse, which means you’re likely to see Fediverse content there if you opt in.
Key phrase: opt in.
I don’t particularly mind this since I can probably coax family and friends to opt in. Whether or not others will opt in, well, that remains to be seen.
Regardless, it’s a nice option.

@atomicpoet the opt in is only available for public profiles. Unless your friends and family are okay with keeping their profile public on the long run, you won't have much luck getting them on board, I'm afraid.
My cousin has her profile already set to private as far as I can see, so I don't think I can bring her here.
If Meta will keep it like this, then it will simply be a poor implementation on their side and not an actual viable way to keep up with anyone else than influencers, spammers, scammers, public accounts for news outlets and institutions that don't have/want to join the fediverse propper and probably some of your friends that find it cool enough to keep their profiles public.
