Comment on Why do we need legal genders at all?
Earthwormjim91@lemmy.world 5 days agoThat’s not really the case anymore. Most places allow you to put the gender you identify with on your ID now. That’s kind of one of the hot button issues with republicans trying to force only having your biological sex on IDs and not allowing people to change their gender on them.

I can’t think of a single quantifiable reason someone’s gender identity should be on a government ID. But biological sex is important to have for things like organ donation.
