You could lie about some other important thing that day (like a medical appointment that had to be rescheduled that day or a friend or family member living far away coming that day) or saying yes to everyone and playing sick on the mariage day.

You could say to everyone that you’re not going if your mother is not going, but this is probably quite a drama generator. Another less direct version is to plan something woth your mother that day and use this as an excuse, but passive agressive strategies like this can result in drama too, though not always in front of you.
