Comment on Realistically, what do people plan to do on the Moon and Mars that requires a permanent, or long term human presence there?
There is value in having living people with the training and first-hand experience in any particular craft or trade.
I really doubt once we have a reason to send people up again that lack of experience with technologies we could not fanthom now will be a massive block at that point.
