Comment on Digital ID comes of age as pubs and bars get go-ahead for biometric scan tech
fakeman_pretendname@feddit.uk 2 weeks agoI don’t think I’ve ever known of anywhere scanning an ID in any way - generally it’s just shown to the person behind the bar for 2 seconds (I’m not denying that some weird computerised thing exists somewhere- just that I’ve never seen such a thing). Nowhere should be scanning or storing anything.

I’ve pretty much only seen it at shit nightclubs and areas with a big student population. They’re not super common and I’ll be honest it’s been a few years since I’ve seen one, but then I don’t really go to either of those kinds of places anymore
